The first time I saw the mountains of the American West, I knew I’d found my muse for life. Born in the soft hills of Pennsylvania, I never knew a landscape could be so dynamic, alluring and frightening at the same time. I began my art career in watercolor, but have found oils and acrylics to better capture the harshness of mountains. I use thin layers of medium to build a world intensified by vivid colors and bold horizons. My process beings in wild places. Often, hiking up a steep slopes or climbing a rock faces to discover a new perspective of the landscape. As an avid outdoors woman, I prefer to paint places that I’ve experienced first hand. Nothing makes me happier than memorizing a ridge line with my feet, and immortalizing that experience in paint.
